Find organizations who have been on the front-line of climate change, from divestment campaigns, to keep-it-in-the-ground actions, climate justice and more

350.org Seattle: 350 Seattle works toward climate justice by organizing people to make deep system change: resisting fossil fuels; building momentum for healthy alternatives; and fostering resilient, just, and welcoming communities.

Monthly meeting open to all the 1st Wednesday of each month. Doors open at 5:30PM (University Friends Meeting, 4001 - 9th Avenue Northeast, Seattle)


350.org Eastside: 350 Eastside is building a climate justice movement on the Eastside.  They endeavor to bring passionate people together for the purpose of creating a world in which all can thrive now and into the future.  They focus on policy, advocacy, education and creative direct action to bring about the changes necessary to ensure a sustainable, viable planet.  This work includes, but is not limited to, replacing fossil fuels with 100% renewable energy sources on the Eastside and abroad.


Backbone Campaign: Backbone Campaign amplifies the aspirations of "We the People" with creative strategies and artful activism to manifest a world where life, community, nature, and our obligations to future generations are honored as sacred.


Front and Centered: Front and Centered (formerly Communities of Color for Climate Justice) is a statewide coalition of organizations and groups rooted in communities of color and people with lower incomes; They'’re on the frontlines of economic and environmental change. As thought leaders and organizers they build their agenda and strength with their grassroots community.


Plant-For-The-Planet (8 to 12 years old): Plant-for-the-Planet Washington is a youth led program that is part of an international alliance of children who are planting trees to help with carbon sequestration and slow climate damage. To meet it’s mission, Plant-for-the-Planet Washington’s Seattle branch :

  • Hosts or participates in tree planting events

  • Sends funds Plant-for-the-Planet Global to support tree planting on a larger scale

  • Engages in climate lawsuits against all levels of government to demand accountability and protection of a safe and stable environment for their future

  • Works on local bans on fossil fuel infrastructureIs in constant contact with legislators with concerns about our environment

  • Gives presentations on climate change to their schools and organizations that request a talk

  • Runs the Plant-for-the-Planet Academy program to train other youth to give climate change presentations.

Sierra Club Washington State: The Sierra Club's members and supporters are more than 2 million of friends and neighbors. Inspired by nature, they work together to protect our communities and the planet. They’re America's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. 

They're involved in environmental education, conservation, and political issues.  They lead fun outings such as hikes, trail maintenance, and snow-shoeing walks.


Sunrise Movement Washington: Sunrise is a youth-led movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. The movement is open to people of all-ages. It focuses are on supporting a green new deal, furthering political engagement and endorsing candidates who stand for bold climate action and the transitioning away from fossil fuels.


Washington Women for Climate Action Now: WWCAN engages and empowers women to lead on equitable climate action across Washington state. They mobilize women to act on climate at home and at local, state, and federal levels.


XR Seattle: XR is a socio-political movement which uses nonviolent resistance to protest against climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse.


Zero Hour (13 to 18 years old): The global Zero Hour movement was started by a member of Plant-for-the-Planet along with other youth. They are carrying on the Zero Hour mission by The mission of the Zero Hour movement is to center the voices of diverse youth in the conversation around climate and environmental justice. Zero Hour is a youth-led movement creating entry points, training, and resources for new young activists and organizers (and adults who support our vision) wanting to take concrete action around climate change.
