If you dig into the latest emissions gap report from UNEP, you will see that eliminating our global emissions to zero by 2050 only gives us a 66% chance to keep global temperature below 1,5°C (see graph on page xviii of executive summary). The culprit is the current concentration of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. With CO2 at 410ppm , it is already too high and removal of emissions from the atmosphere will be needed.

However, even without removal technology ready yet, we can still remove CO2 from the atmosphere through natural sinks. Forests, mangroves, peatlands, soils and more are ecosystems which are drawing down down carbon. Protecting, restoring and expanding them will help us naturally remove CO2 while also minimizing the alarming rate of species extinction.

That's why Parents For Future Seattle is launching a "#GiftMeATree for my birthday "campaign.

Participate in our campaign!

Not only you will help create a brighter future for your kids but it will also save you from some serious "Birthday's angst"

Let us explain!

We have all been there! Birthday party is over and your kid is left with a mountain of (plastic) toys from friends, coming with as much packaging. Truth be told, she is about to have a meltdown and in a week she will not even be playing with them.

But this was BEFORE you knew about "#GiftMeATree" and how it can save you from this dreaded meltdown or worse from making all your guests uncomfortable by requesting "no Gift, please!" (because, there is ALWAYS someone who bring something....).

So, when you send your kid's next Birthday card think about making it a "#GiftMeATree for my Birthday". Just include the link to your chosen non-profit so your guests can easily make their gift online or directly link to our page!

Below is a list of organizations which you could suggest to your guests and would plant trees for you! If you know of other non-profits providing this service, please send us an EMAIL

Plant-For-The-Planet was started in 2007 by Felix Finkbeiner, a then nine-year-old boy.

For each Euro (they will do the conversation at payment) donated, plant-for-the-planet will plant a real tree on our foundation’s planting area on the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico.

The child can also redeem the personalized voucher at By activating a personal tree counter, he can begin to plant a forest!

The National Forest Foundation, an American non-profit organization, was created by Congress in 1992 to be the official non-profit partner of the United States Forest Service. Its mission is to engage Americans in promoting the health and public enjoyment of our National Forests.

They will plant a tree for every $1 you give. For a gift of $25 or more, you will receive a subscription to Your National Forests magazine, published twice a year and they will mail a card to the person you are gifting the trees,

Heifer is most well-known for distributing animals, (along with agricultural and values-based training) to families in needs all around the globe, but they also have a tree donation program.

You can either make a full $60 donation or donate a $10 share or more towards a full gift.

(what your kids will tell you in ten years)
