For Kids, Teenagers and the Youth

Find organizations with activities for kids or which are youth-led.


Seattle Green Families: A group for parents with toddlers and young kiddos who get together online and offline with their kids. Join them for kid-friendly environmental events and learn from each other about what little steps can be added to your parents arsenal to save the planet!


Climate Actions Families: At Climate Action Families, they are taking decisive action on climate change and global equity through educating themselves and others, building community, making necessary lifestyle changes, and becoming advocates for science and civil rights in our institutions of governance. Climate Kids, Plant-For-The-Planet and Zero Hours are among their flagship programs.

Come to their monthly meeting to learn more (1st Saturday of each month at ).


Climate Kids (0 to 7 years old): It is currently comprised of the educational and childcare support Climate Action Families offer during their monthly meeting. Kids learn about our local native species and resources, play cooperative games, and make art from sustainable materials. 


Plant-For-The-Planet (8 to 12 years old): Plant-for-the-Planet Washington is a youth led program that is part of an international alliance of children who are planting trees to help with carbon sequestration and slow climate damage. To meet it’s mission, Plant-for-the-Planet Washington’s Seattle branch :

  • Hosts or participates in tree planting events

  • Sends funds Plant-for-the-Planet Global to support tree planting on a larger scale

  • Engages in climate lawsuits against all levels of government to demand accountability and protection of a safe and stable environment for their future

  • Works on local bans on fossil fuel infrastructureIs in constant contact with legislators with concerns about our environment

  • Gives presentations on climate change to their schools and organizations that request a talk

  • Runs the Plant-for-the-Planet Academy program to train other youth to give climate change presentations:


Zero Hour (13 to 18 years old): The global Zero Hour movement was started by a member of Plant-for-the-Planet along with other youth. They are carrying on the Zero Hour mission by The mission of the Zero Hour movement is to center the voices of diverse youth in the conversation around climate and environmental justice. Zero Hour is a youth-led movement creating entry points, training, and resources for new young activists and organizers (and adults who support our vision) wanting to take concrete action around climate change.


Sunrise Movement Washington: Sunrise is a youth-led movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. The movement is open to people of all-ages. It focuses are on supporting a green new deal, furthering political engagement and endorsing candidates who stand for bold climate action and the transitioning away from fossil fuels.
